A fascination with creatively drew me toward painting and fashion which shaped an early career in makeup artistry.  Working in Australia I embraced collaborations with diverse and inspiring individuals who pushed my boundaries of artistic expression and this later lead me to discover a passion for interior styling and decoration.

 This eventuated in studying interior design and I was then catapulted into the furniture industry where I was fortunate to work with many high end international brands across Australia and New Zealand.  My sharp sense of colour and attention to detail has been instrumental, both professionally and in my own home, enabling me to design spaces that are harmonious, considerate and enduring.  This has allowed me to capture my clients distinctive styles, creating comprehensive and beautiful environments tailored to their preferences.

My time in the fashion industry and retail visual merchandising has shown me that having strong attention to detail is vital to creating truly inspiring aesthetics. As an interior designer, I believe it’s vital to understand clients’ needs, aspirations and goals when designing a functional space. Every client has a story to tell, and I’m privileged to work alongside them to create spaces which clearly communicate their unique style and personality.

In my personal life, I always have a creative project on the go. I’m passionate about sewing, up-cycling and upholstering furniture as well as perennially renovating my own home. 

My interior style is ever evolving; however, I’m drawn to timeless design with pops of colour. I like to embrace the heritage features of a home, but add a modern twist with gorgeous colours, textures and shapes. I also have an interest in mid-century modern, traditional, Hollywood glam and contemporary styles.

My passion for creative spaces began at a young age and has guided my career ever since. I enjoy projects that blend traditional and modern influences, often pairing antique pieces with minimalist elements to create spaces that feel layered, personal and full of character. My favourite part of the design process is the moment when clients first see their ideas brought together, turning their inspirations into a cohesive vision they can truly imagine living in. With over a decade of experience in the design industry, much of it spent in London working for high-end design studios, I bring a refined yet approachable style to every project.

Throughout my childhood, I found myself captivated by the work of imaginative individuals who surrounded me. Their creativity sparked a profound appreciation for the intricate details found not only within the art adorning the walls but also within the realm of interior design itself.

My passion for interior design blossomed as I delved deeper into its study, culminating in what I proudly consider my chosen profession. Crafting enduring spaces that harmonize with the unique visions and concepts of every client has become the essence of my work. By thoughtfully employing elements like texture, materials, and colour, I strive to create elegant and cohesive environments.

Guiding clients through the evolution of their ideas and witnessing the transformation of those concepts into cherished spaces is an immensely gratifying journey. Hi, my names Alana, with a decade of experience in interior design I have had the privilege to work with many amazing clients, as well as being lucky enough to work alongside leading London interior designers during a stint overseas which added to the depth of my design abilities.

I take pleasure working alongside my clients from design concept to completion of the project creating spaces that are unique to each individual by understanding their needs, lifestyle and taking into consideration both function and aesthetic appeal.

Tiles and the beauty of solid surfaces is my true niche here at Nextdore.  Creating enduring sophisticated bathrooms using the wealth of product available from the world leaders in tile design and innovation is where my real passion in design lies.   I was privileged enough to spend time in Spain in 2018 with Porcelanosa and this extended my firsthand knowledge of the incredible brand behind the world class tiles that I have been working with for many years.

My style is a mixture of moody sophistication with modern touches, incorporating natural elements. A love of colour and pattern helps me explore different ways to bring texture and materials together to create uniquely interesting spaces which reflect my client’s individual personality and needs.

I feel very fortunate to have been involved in some very in-depth projects working with astute clients creating spaces that I am incredibly proud to have had involvement with.  I’m passionate about my role in facilitating every facet of the interior design of your renovation or new build, from concept to completion, to deliver a cohesive, considered space to withstand the test of time.

Passion and a desire to create beautiful, individual yet evolving homes and interiors for my clients and myself is my personal mantra. I have had the privilege of working with the talented team at Nextdore for twenty years.  I bring a wide range of speciality experience in floorcoverings with my love of textured wool carpets and natural products like timber, I also have a real passion for soft furnishings and textiles which is how I get to reflect the real personality of the people I am working for.

Working closely with clients to create their dream new home or space especially when I get to use my real passion for natural products and textures is what fills my days. But regardless of the brief I take great pleasure in pulling together each client’s design needs, budgets and desires to curate a space not only that looks great but also allows for every spacial consideration.

Being creative and hands on has always been an important aspect of who I am. From sketching house designs as a young girl, to painting and upcycling furniture for my children not to mention landscaping tired garden spaces – these all put me in my happy place.

With over 15 years experience since completing my Diploma in Interior Design, all my designs start by listening attentively to my client’s brief. Whether the project is a new build or a renovation, contemporary or classical in style, my aim is to ensure that each outcome is unique; that the features of each home are enhanced; that the spaces are inviting and liveable, and truly reflect those who move through them.
